Download the 32 or 64 bit version and install it then visit the Windows update site and get the current version of WUP just click on the correct version for XP What the problem turn's out to be is that WUP (the program used to update Windows) is out of date and the way you usually update it is through Windows Updater. Apparently the version of the Windows Update Program provided with XP SP2 does not have access to the Windows Update Service any more. after I wasted a lot of time searching on the Internet for a solution to Error Code 0x8024400A, I came across this post downloaded the 32 bit version from the link I had two XP machines both resulting in this error. They also said that this HD was warrantied to a person who lives in Branson MO, and that the born on date for this HD was May 2009.
